(OPPOSE AB-495: Moving Bill Requires Immediate Action) Stranger Danger. AB 495 allows a nonrelated adult to take custody of a child simply by presenting a signed “authorized” affidavit to a school. This document can be easily printed and fraudulently signed and open the door for predators, traffickers, or other dangerous individuals to assume custody of a child. The bill does not require a background check, a parent’s signature, or a court order and therefore a child could legally be placed under the care of someone who is simply familiar with the family. (OPPOSE AB-84: Moving Bill Requires Immediate Action) Charter & Home School Killer. Don’t Allow California to Take More Control from Parents’ School Choice. California’s charter school law was designed to empower educators, expand choices for families, and foster innovation in public education. The Legislature specifically intended for charter schools to operate independently from school districts, provide families with educational options, and encourage new teaching methods. Yet, AB 84 does the opposite. Instead of preserving the flexibility and innovation that make charter schools successful, this bill imposes excessive regulation, restricts growth, and prioritizes bureaucratic compliance over student learning. (OPPOSE AB-727: Moving Bill Requires Immediate Action) LGBTQ Student ID Law for All. Don’t Allow California Force ALL Students to Carry LGBTQ Hot Line Number on Their Student ID. AB727 seeks to expand LGBTQ rights across all educational institutions in California, including public and charter schools, as well as colleges and universities. The bill mandates that every student in grades 7-12 and higher education must have the Trevor Project’s phone number and text line printed on the back of their school ID. The Trevor Project offers a suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. But that’s not all. The Trevor Project also offers counseling for individuals aged 13-24. Their TrevorSpace platform creates an online community where LGBTQ youth can connect, share experiences, ask tough questions, and find support. They even offer resources for dealing with the tensions that can arise when LGBTQ+ identities clash with family beliefs—especially in religious households. (OPPOSE AB-54: Moving Bill Requires Immediate Action) California Abortion Pill Sanctuary.Access to Safe Abortion Care Act would make it permanently legal to send, receive, and use abortion pills like mifepristone and misoprostol in the state—even if federal law or other states ban them. It would protect anyone involved, including doctors, pharmacists, and individuals, from any legal punishment, even for actions taken as far back as 2020. If this bill passes, California will ignore federal restrictions and become a safe haven for abortion pill access, with little to no oversight. It could set a dangerous precedent by undermining national laws, encouraging the mailing and distribution of abortion drugs across state lines, and making it harder to hold anyone accountable. This bill would expand abortion access in ways that many see as extreme, removing safeguards and inviting legal conflict with other states and the federal government. (OPPOSE AB-260: Moving Bill Requires Immediate Action) California Disallowing Other States’ Restrictions from Cross-Border Abortions. This bill expands abortion access in California by blocking enforcement of other states’ abortion restrictions and protecting doctors, pharmacists, and clinics from legal consequences for providing abortion services. It allows the use of abortion pills beyond FDA-approved guidelines, mandates insurance coverage, and relaxes requirements for telehealth and Medi-Cal abortion procedures. The bill also eliminates key safeguards by deleting a law that would require parental notification before a minor’s abortion, removing penalties for assisting in a “criminal abortion,” and scrapping manufacturing and labeling requirements for abortion drugs. While framed as protecting access, AB 260 lowers medical standards and oversight, raising serious concerns about patient safety and transparency in California’s abortion policies. The justification used to pass the VCA in 2019 did not occur after several elections. To name a couple contrary results; Orange County’s own data reports; election costs increased 77% and voter participation did not increase but reduced more than 16%. Mail-in ballots, unmonitored drop boxes, and seemingly never-ending ballot counting came with the VCA. Stop the VCA renewal.
